Dr. Sebi Alkaline Diet App: Scanner, Herbs & Fasting
Ackaline is a free app for eating the Dr. Sebi way without having to memorise a list. Point your camera at a food and it tells you whether it's approved. Time a fasting window and watch it move through the metabolic zones. Look up any herb and see what it's traditionally used for. Cook from 188 recipes that are already within the rules.
Available on iPhone and iPad and on Android. Free to start, no account needed.
What's in it
A food scanner. Point the camera at a vegetable, a piece of fruit or a plate of dinner and get an answer. You can also pick a photo from your gallery, or type the name. More on how the scanner works.
A fasting timer with five metabolic zones. Pick 16:8, 18:6, 20:4 or a window you set yourself, and the ring walks through the zones with an explanation of what each one is. It's scored on alkalinity rather than calories. More on alkaline fasting.
An Alkaline Score on every meal you log. Alkalizing, neutral or acid-forming, calculated on PRAL — the same measure the food pages on this site use — with an alkaline swap suggested when a meal comes back acid-forming.
The approved food list. 96 approved foods with the reason each one is on the list, and 22 to leave alone. You can read the whole list on this site too.
40+ Dr. Sebi herbs with full monographs — what each has traditionally been used for, how it's prepared, habitat, scientific name and cautions.
50 natural remedies. Traditional preparations, described as what they are — traditional practice, not medicine.
188 recipes and 16 meal plans. Everything plant-based and inside the approved list, each with a "why it works" note, so you're not cross-checking ingredients while you cook.
Healing protocols such as the 21-Day Full-Body Alkaline Detox, with an hourly schedule, the foods to eat and avoid, and the herbs it uses.
A daily journey — meals, herbs, hydration and rituals as a checklist, with points, streaks and a daily affirmation, so the thing you decided to do in week one is still in front of you in week four.
Who it's for
If you're starting out, the hardest part is not the cooking — it's standing in a shop unsure whether the thing in your hand is allowed. That's the problem the scanner solves.
If you've been eating this way a while, it's mostly the herb monographs, the recipes and the fasting timer, plus a quick check on the foods that sit in the grey area between reproductions of the list.
If you're reading around the subject rather than following it strictly, it still works as a reference. It tells you what the guide says about a food, and gives you the PRAL picture alongside, so you can see where a meal lands on both.
What it doesn't do
It isn't a medical app. It doesn't diagnose anything, treat anything, or tell you that eating from a list will cure a condition. If you have symptoms or a diagnosis, that's a conversation with your doctor, and this sits alongside that rather than instead of it.
It doesn't read barcodes, and it doesn't sync with Apple Health or a watch. What it does is answer the question you have in your hand: is this on the list, and where does this meal land.
Common questions
Is the app free?
Free to start, and you don't need an account to open it. The fasting timer, water tracking and streaks are free. A paid upgrade opens the full herb, recipe and meal-plan library and raises the monthly allowance of AI food scans.
How many foods can I scan?
The free tier includes 10 AI scans a month; the paid tier includes 50. Everything that isn't an AI scan — the timer, the food list, your logged meals — isn't counted.
Does it have a fasting timer?
Yes — 16:8, 18:6, 20:4 or a window you set yourself, with five metabolic zones along the way. Longer fasts sit behind an acknowledged warning on purpose; a fasting window is not something to push without talking to a doctor. Our full guide to alkaline fasting is here.
Does it work offline?
Scanning a food needs a connection, because the recognition runs on our servers rather than on your phone. Set a fasting window before you leave the house and the timer keeps running either way.
Do I need the books as well?
No. The app answers "can I eat this?" in the moment. The Alkaline Healing Blueprint answers "how do I actually run my week?" — the first seven days, what to do when you're eating out, and why each exclusion exists. Different jobs.
